Well I got here, I am in Pozzuoli, sitting on the balcony with my breakfast, and I can smell the morning coffee in the air.
Getting here was the usual > 24 hour ordeal.
This time it took about 26 hours door to door.
Get to the CMH airport 2 hours before the flight, 3 hour layover in Detroit, 5 hour layover in Paris which became 6 hours because the plane needed a new tire.
The bus from the Naples airport to the city center was delayed; it just died, motor stopped wouldn't restart, had to wait it out until another one came.
Got to the center and the metro train was crowded and hot.
Got to Pozzuoli metro station and had to wait 40 minutes for the bus out to this neighborhood.
In short, travel is a pain.
The upsides: economy comfort on the overseas flight really does give you about 4" extra legroom (but no extra shoulder room).
The meals weren't bad, especially the business class food on the CDG->NAP flight.
There's a very good sushi restaurant in Detroit airport concourse A.
Security and passport lines weren't very long and moved quickly.
The trip really isn't done yet, this is just a resting point.
Monday we start again with a 4 to 5 hour bus ride from Napoli center to Pescara. Oh, and don't lets forget the bus and metro ride to get from here to the center, and the train ride to get from Pescara to Tortoreto Lido. It's going to be a long day again.
I really will need some rest before I can start my vacation :)
