The summer at the sea is over, I'm back in Columbus.

Next trip?   Don't know yet.  Maybe New Year's, maybe something else.

Sadly, I've left Tortoreto.  Back in Pozzuoli or Napoli for today, and Monday I fly back to the USA.

Arrosticini

Arrosticini are sticks of sheep meat cooked over a fire. They're tasty and you can't eat just one; I managed to eat just 9 this day, and I could have done more.

 

Here's a close up of what they look like.  The picture is from a different day, sorry I just didn't have the presence of mind on this night to take a picture of the arrosticini when they arrived: I was too busy eating.

Metro price increases for 2011

At first glance, the metro price increases in Napoli for 2011 haven't been that bad.
An Unico Napoli ticket that in 2010 used to cost €1,10 is now €1,20.
Dig deeper, however, and you find out that what's changed is where you can go with that ticket.
In 2010, with that ticket you could go out from the center of Napoli all the way to the far edge of Pozzuoli (a station called Lucrino on the Cumana railway line.)
In 2011, however, with that ticket you can only go to the edge of Napoli itself.  To go to the same place you could go last year with the €1,10 ticket you have to spend €1,60 this year to get an extended zone ticket (see picture.)
This is quite a hit for those people who have to travel back and forth between Pozzuoli and Napoli.
People who stay all the time in Napoli or all the time in Pozzuoli aren't affected as much (their tickets went up to €1,20.)

So where is the sea?

The reader may be wondering where the sea is and why there's no talk yet of the sea.
It's been pushed back a couple days.  I needed to stay in Pozzuoli a couple extra days to wait for my brother to arrive from the US.  I should be in Tortoreto on Tuesday.

Monday night went to a friend's 50th Brithday Party at a nice restaurant in Baia.

Some blogging troubles, sorry

 I meant to post some pictures today of a nice dinner Monday night in Baia, an old fishing village.  I was having troubles uploading the pictures today, however, and I got busy and wasn't able to get back to it.

It's gotten very late now, so I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Luggage, what luggage

The tag team of Delta-Alitalia just can't seem to manage to get their luggage act together.
Yet again this trip our bags were DOA on our arrival in Napoli.

Luckily they were delived to use bright and early Tueday morning.
